Alright since I remember my dad has always been on the heavier side in the earlier years it was only a kg or 2 over weight so you know it was no bigger but over the years he’s been eating and eating and eating and all the wrong foods. When I was 10 I kind of took after my fathers eating habits and weighed more then I am proud to admit but I lost the weight slowly through exercise and a healthy diet, I got down to a healthy weight and kept fit and around the same mark up till now (20yo) and plan to keep it that way after my pregnancy of course but since I was 17 I tried to encourage my dad to come out for walks with me or offer to make him the meal I was having and no it wasn’t just tofu or salad it was normal meals in good porpotions and made just a bit more healthier. He would always be keen for the meal but not for the exercise and about 20 mins after eating my meal he would go into the cupboard grab a pack of chips or whole bar of chocolate or whole packet of biscuits and sit his arse infront of the computer and play world of war craft (in recent years he’s now moved on to this stupid online war tank game) Not only does he neglect the family but he mindlessly eats. He has gone from 80kgs to about 130kg his snoring has gotten worse and is on a machine that keeps the airway open. That doctor has told him that being this much over weight is worsening it and he says he’s trying to lose weight and be fit but somehow I can’t see how a light exercise job and sitting on your arse for the rest of the day is putting in an effort. When he’s really thirst he goes into the fridge and will take a little bottle or can of fizzy or in some cases alcohol and I will say “Before you drink that can you please drink atleast 2 big cups of water so I know you’re atleast a little bit hydrated he will look at the drink then open it and say oh it’s already open now it will go bad and starts drinking it like there is no tomorrow .Today was the last straw as he went in and got one of my little sodas which I get once every two weeks to treat myself as I do like a good bubbly every now and then if he asked I wouldn’t of been so annoyed but any way he was just about to open it and I told him I will be more then happy to share it with him but my deal is he had to drink 2 glasses of water and then we will share it after dinner. He just scoffed opened it said I shouldn’t of left it sitting in the fridge and drunk it all back burping very loudly and said he will buy me another one tomorrow and said it’s okay he had that drink because it has cane sugar therefore it’s not bad. I have tried to educate this man and I have tried putting him on a diet not one that restricts cals to a low level but just to eat as many vegs as he wants some fruit, lean meats, beans, and occasionally red meat but he tries every excuse to justify what he’s eating or drinking and gets infuriated when anyone tells him that it’s not correct. He also tried eating 3 meat pies today each have 11g of saturated fat and 24g fat total. I took two pies away telling him it’s best to freeze them and eat them on a seperate occasion as 1 is plenty and he shouldn’t be eating it while he’s not concentrating on it and he lost his temper big time and called me a bilemic lazy bitch who only picks on him. Now I had bad morning sickness in the first trimester and the odd day in the 2nd trimester where i’m just sick all day and today happened to be one of those days. I let him know his remark hurt and I would of loved to be able to keep down a fricken pie cause I was starving and have only managed water and a cup of soup. I went over to the neighbours who aren’t the richiest of people and gave them the pies which they were greatful for. It does piss me off to see him eating food he doesn’t need and he blames everyone for the shopping being dare. My mum has a few naughty snacks in a blue moon and he gives her hell for it even she has tried talking to him. She was even in tears once saying she was worried he was going to die an early death and she wouldn’t know what to do without him (sadly I know she deserves better because he just doesn’t give her the attention this amazing women deserves but she’s holding on to the great man he use to be, In my childhood and early teens he was a fantastic dad but now….He’s a new person. Midlife crisis maybe? I would say he has food addiction and finds hapiness eating it but it doesn’t seem that way he doesn’t even appreciate the food he always eats it infront of the computer while me, my mother and boyfriend eat at the table socializing. Sometimes hear him at crazy hours of the morning getting up for midnight snacking and he makes the most ick sounds. crashing, banging, clinking you can even hear him slurping and chewing.
