When you are choosing a Digital camera, it is important to see if it has the facility to attach a standard tripod. Though most cameras come with tripod sockets there are some that do not have them. Therefore, look at the bottom of your camera to find if the tripod socket is there.

The importance of tripod is that for high quality photographs you need it. Suppose you are going to take a shot in the beach to record sun set. You may need a longer exposure. If you try to take a hand held shot at a shutter speed lower than 1/15th of a second you will not be able to prevent shake.

When you try to take a group photograph you will always be behind the camera. The only way for you to appear in the photograph is to use the tripod and activate the self timer. Buying a simple tripod along with a camera that has a tripod socket is a good option.
